Katy Perry to Join First All-Female Space Crew on Blue Origin Flight
Global pop star Katy Perry is preparing to blast off into space!
The award-winning singer will join the first-ever all-female crew aboard a Blue Origin New Shepard rocket, launching later this year. The mission, expected to take off this spring from Blue Origin’s West Texas launch site, is led by Lauren Sánchez, who is a pilot, journalist, and the partner of Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos.
Sánchez has gathered an impressive team of scientists, journalists, and celebrities to join her on this exciting suborbital spaceflight, which will briefly take them above Earth’s atmosphere before returning to the ground.
Here’s the full lineup of the historic crew:
- 🎤 Katy Perry – Global music superstar and activist
- 🚀 Aisha Bowe – CEO of STEMBoard and former NASA rocket scientist
- 🎬 Kerianne Flynn – Film producer and advocate for women in media
- 🎙 Gayle King – Co-host of CBS Mornings and renowned journalist
- 🔬 Amanda Nguyen – Bioastronautics research scientist and human rights activist
- ✈️ Lauren Sánchez – Pilot, journalist, and mission leader
This flight marks a major milestone—it will be the first all-female space mission since 1963, when Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space.
Blue Origin’s Growing Space Tourism Program
The announcement of this special all-women crew comes just two days after Blue Origin successfully launched NS-30, its most recent six-person space tourist mission.

All participants safely traveled to space and back aboard Blue Origin’s reusable New Shepard rocket.
